FITWC St Petersburg - Race Report

Adam Raga took the win in the seventh round of the Indoor Trial World Championship held in Saint Petersburg in front of 10.500 spectators. The Gas Gas rider has snatched his second consecutive victory, triumphing in the final over country men Jeroni Fajardo and Albert Cabestany.

The penultimate section of the final has been vital as Raga has cleared it whilst his rivals have been penalised with five points, loosing all chances for taking the victory. Fajardo has won the fight for the second position when Albert Cabestany has collected another five in the last section.

Dougie Lampkin, who was second in Belfast, could not get to the final. However, the Montesa rider has been the only one to clean the last section in the first lap, where all the rest have committed a fiasco.

Fujinami had problems with the rear break of his bike, whereas thee points have prevented Bou from going to the final after taking three consecutives “fives” in the last three sections.

Raga, who has inaugurates the second half of the season achieving his fourth win, has enhanced his leadership at the top position of the overall standings, whereas the fight for the second position is very competed with three riders separated by seven points. This has been the fifth Spanish podium of the season in seven rounds held so far.

The FITWC will go back to Spain next Friday the 18th of February, when Menorca Island will host the Indoor Trial of Maón. This is the first time that the Championship visits this scene.
