WTC 2006 // United Kingdom, Hawkstone Park - It's Fujigas...again!

Monday the 31st of July 2006 by jitsie

Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol Montesa HRC continued his run of victories with another top podium position at the Great Britain Grand Prix today at the Hawkstone Park Motocross circuit. Fujinami took a narrow win over Adam Raga – Gas Gas with Albert Cabestany – Sherco in third place.

After the injury and illness that marked the start of his 2006 campaign, Fujinami continued his return to form with his third consecutive victory, and fourth of the year to date. A score of fourteen at the end of the first lap saw him with a five mark advantage over Cabestany at the half-way stage. Despite a higher score of eighteen on the second lap, it was still sufficient to give him a one-mark victory over Raga, who launched one of his trademark comebacks in the second half of the competition, dropping just twelve marks.

Having missed out on a podium position in Italy and settling for second place in both Poland and now the UK, Raga still leads the championship, but with a reduced margin of twelve marks over Fujinami. Dougie Lampkin – Repsol Montesa HRC remains in third place in the overall standings, after finishing fourth at his home round.

1. Takahisa Fujinami - 32
2. Adam Raga - 33
