The last round of the Trials Championship of the World was held in the motor-racing city of Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. This round turned out to be a tremendous battle between Sherco rider Albert Cabestany and the current Champion of the World, Adam Raga. From the very beginning of this trial, which was very difficult because of the clay that accumulated on the Belgian rocks, it was obvious that Albert and Raga were the men to beat. The equality between the two riders was something to see. After the last section they both had the exact same score of 28 points, they both had nineteen cleans, four one’s, three two’s, one three and three fives. The winner was finally decided by the one who finished the trial is the least amount of time which in this case was Adam who was 5 minutes faster than Albert. With this finish, Albert Cabestany earned third place in the Outdoor World Championship.
Albert Cabestany: “The trial today was very hard and a good battle between Adam and I. The fact that the final result had to be determined by time is a good example of how competitive it was. It would have been very good to finish with the out right win, but for the most part I am very satisfied with the way the season ended. I plan to concentrate on the Spanish Championship and believe that the momentum that I have will continue.”
